road /ice conditions

We climbed in the Genesis area on Sat. and everything was fat on that side of the canyon, on unamed wall things looked like they might be deteriorating, although I can't say for sure, the rock appeared very wet and everything from the thrill is gone to the fat one looked in but thin. with a return to cold weather I'm sure they will bulk up again. the road was OK going up to the dam with all wheels chained up, we skied from there, but we high centered on the way out and with the new snow a sled or really high clearance will be needed. I was suprised we only saw one other climber, but I did hear a few sleds in the distance. Tobias

we made it up in a light suv with probably 9-10 inches of clearance, a truck with more clearance would certainly have faired better, though I doubt the road beyond the dam would be passable very far, there were no established ruts and while it was packed by snowmobile traffic there would be huge potential for a long wallow. I'm not sure how much snow fell sat night and sun morning it was practically dumping as we headed out Sat night, maybe the snotel site has more info
